Millet Idli with Sprouted Pearl millets/ Sajjalu Idli with Coconut Chutney recipe

 Pearl Millet is highly nutritious and is highly recommended for people with different age groups. It can be also given for infants as weaning food and is also good for lactating mothers as well.  It contains good amount of iron and zinc and soaking, fermentation helps to increase its absorption capacity of the body. I used Sprouted Pearl millets to prepare idlis because sprouting will double the health benefits. So try to use Sprouted grains in cooking recipes whenever you can. This recipe also contains urad dal which is power packed with protein and different minerals. It is ideal for breakfast for toddlers and for younger kids and gives good amount of energy. Coconut Burfi with Jaggery

 Coconuts has tremendous amount of health benefits. Including them in your kids diet gives a good advantage for their health. Instead of offering unhealthy sweet treats or regular chocolates, try this sweet recipe which is healthy for them. The recipe I have shared here is very easy to make and has very few ingredients but the taste will be excellent and your kids love to have them as a treat. In this recipe I used jaggery, you can also substitute it with regular sugar. But I recommend you to use jaggery, since it doesn't harm our children when taken in moderate amounts. I also added some nuts to the recipe to add some crunch to the barfi and this step is optional, you can skip this step. Adding elaichi powder gives nice flavour and taste to the recipe.  Now let's go through the recipe details..  Our body needs a lot of protein and it can fulfilled by including protein-rich food into our diet. Even kids do need some amount of protein for their body depending on their body weight. For fussy-eaters, parents may find it difficult to fulfill their nutrition required for their well being. Including well balanced food diet, which contains protein in the food what they loves to eat is very important.  The recipe that I have shared here is made by my own, and usually I serve for my loving kid in her morning breakfast recipes like idlis and dosas. The chutney contains different nuts and seeds, coconut, and I also included dried curry leaves powder as an added advantage.  So why I make this chutney which includes lot of ingredients because toddlers cannot chew the nuts properly and they usually swallow if we offer the whole nuts.  We all know Amaranthus as a green leafy vegetable. But many of us don't know that the grain is also useful for cooking different recipes like sweets, breakfast, or it can be used to substitute with rice as well. The Amaranth seeds has numerous health benefits. It is gluten-free and has plenty amount of fiber, micro-nutrients and antioxidants. It also has a good amount of protein and also high in manganese, iron and many other vitamins and minerals. It is one of the richest sources of calcium. So including Amaranthus seeds in to your children's diet is really beneficial to them.  The recipe that I discussed here is Amaranth dosa made with Urad dal and sprouted Amaranth grain. As sprouting Amaranth grain increases absorption capacity of our body and also increases the nutritional value.
