Whole wheat Pizza Recipe || Mushroom Bell Pepper Pizza

We know that including whole grains in your food would be an advantage to your meal. So have you ever pizza recipe (I mean the base) at home using whole wheat flour? It tastes equally good besides the regular pizza available at shops. The recipe that I shared here is Pizza recipe including how to make base, pizza sauce and I made Mushroom and green pepper pizza. You can add any toppings that you wish to have.



Now let's go through the process.
Ingredients:
For making base
Whole wheat flour - 2 cups
Sugar - 1 teaspoon
Salt - as required (as per your taste)
Active dry yeast - 1/2 teaspoon
Water - 3/4 cup
For making sauce
Ripened tomatoes - 6 to 8 medium size
Salt - as per your taste
Butter or oil - 1 teaspoon
Garlic finely chopped - 6 to 8 cloves
Green bell pepper - few pieces(optional)
Onion - half finely chopped
Mixed herbs seasoning - 1 teaspoon
For toppings
Mushrooms - 6 to 8
Green bell pepper - 1 sliced
Onion - half sliced
Tomato - 1 thinly sliced

Procedure:
To make pizza dough
First take a vessel heat water until it is slightly warm enough and add 1 spoon sugar and 1/2 tsp active dry yeast.
Mix thoroughly with a spoon until the yeast gets dissolved in the water . Close the vessel with a lid and leave it aside for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes you can see foam with white colour(residue) on the top of water. At this stage, add whole wheat flour and 2 pinches of salt and 1 teaspoon of oil/ghee into same vessel and knead the dough thoroughly using your hands.
Keep the lid on and rest the dough for a minimum of 2 hours or until the dough raises and you can see the air bubbles.
For making pizza sauce:
Heat 1 teaspoon of butter / oil in a sauce pan and add finely chopped garlic and saute for 20 seconds.
Add onion and fry it until it is translucent and the tomato puree made with fully ripened red tomatoes.
Saute the puree until it changes to thick and bright red colour. You can also add finely chopped green bell pepper at this stage.
Now add mixed herbs (thyme, basil, oregano) and enough salt and saute for 2 minutes or until the sauce becomes thick and switch off the flame.
To make pizza base:
Divide the pizza dough into two halves (we can make 2 medium size pizzas) and roll the dough into round shape using rolling pin or by using hands.

Now make punches using a fork otherwise the dough may rise high while it is getting baked.
Now dust the baking pan using butter and flour and preheat the oven at 170 degrees.
Now bake the pizza base for 5 minutes, it will changes to light golden brown in colour. Make two breads ready and go to the next step.
For making Mushroom 🍄 and Capsicum 🫑 pizza🍕:
Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of prepared pizza sauce and spread it over the base using a spoon, leaving the edges(otherwise it may get burnt while baking)
Add chopped veggies of your choice, I added Mushrooms, green bell peppers, sliced onions, sliced red tomatoes.
Now add handful of mozzarella cheese on to the top of vegetables.
Bake the pizza into a oven at 170 degrees C for about 8 to 10 minutes. After it is done take out the pizza and garnish with mixed herbs. Serve this yummy 😋 pizza and your kids will definitely love it.
